Mikaela Holmberg
Mikaela Holmberg is an internationally awarded fine art photographer based in Hämeenlinna, Finland. She was awarded the prestigious QEP (Qualified European Photographer) in Fine Art Photography in 2018 and has worked as a full-time photographer for over 15 years.
Born in 1981 in the archipelago of southern Finland, Mikaela grew up surrounded by the quiet beauty of nature — shifting light, open horizons, and the subtle moods of the Nordic landscape. From an early age, she felt a deep connection to creativity and visual expression, always drawn to art as a way of understanding and shaping the world around her.
While studying audiovisual communication between 2001 and 2004, she found herself spending most of her time in the darkroom, developing negatives and prints. There, in the quiet rhythm of light and shadow, she discovered that still images spoke to her more deeply than moving pictures. Photography soon became her chosen language — a way to express her inner landscapes and capture moments that feel timeless and quietly meaningful.
Over the years, Mikaela has developed a signature style known for its moody, painterly quality and emotional depth. Her work often explores atmosphere, presence, and the subtle space between reality and imagination — where light becomes not only a visual element, but a storyteller.
Committed to refining her craft, Mikaela has traveled internationally to study with renowned photographers such as Lindsay Adler, Bella Kotak, Magdalena Sienicka, and Gemmy Woud-Binnendijk. These experiences have helped shape her artistic voice while strengthening her technical mastery.
Mikaela speaks Finnish, Swedish, and English fluently and is happy to provide her services in all three languages.
